Racestar 15X10 Wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street Tires

To step up the game with a Pure Drag setup I called up the team over at Late Model Restoration. We utilized a rear set of Racestar 15X10 5X4.5 to 5X5 wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street 28X11.5 Tires. These wheels are very light 39lbs wheel and tire together. They are a direct fit for 2005-2012 Ford Mustangs.

They have a Polished finish with 7.5″ backspacing and 51mm offset. Note you may need to relocate your rear swaybar with these. That is easy to do. These wheels are a bit tricky to mount but if you read the instructions from Racestar then it will make a world of difference. See instructions below.

The two boxes you see are Go-Pro cameras.

Racestar Drag Wheels 15X10 These are very nice looking wheels. The center cap screws on so you don’t have to drop it every time you take the wheel off.

This wheel tire combo only weights 38.5 or 39 lbs each. This is less than 1/2 of the factory 19″ wheel. 
Race Star Bolt Sequence

My 2011 Mustang has the 5×4.5 Bolt Pattern so I had to install the shank lug nut while the wheel was in the 6 o’clock position.

The full set of instructions for mounting these wheels are listed below.

To mount the 15″ wheel you will have to relocate your swaybar mount As you can see it then gives you plenty of clearance.
11.5 inches is a wide tire that offered a lot of traction.
Mickey Thompson Mustang Drag Tire As you can see this Mickey Thompson Tire has a lot of surface area. 
Racestar Drag Wheel Shank Lug Nuts I had to buy a full set of 20 Shack style lug nuts with offset washers.

I ran these on the track with about 12 psi of air pressure. 
For 5×4.5 Bolt Pattern Installations: (require Offset Washers) After the vehicle is properly and securely positioned place the wheel on the vehicle. Start with the lug stud at the 6’oclock position. Gravity will allow the largest part of the Offset washer to fall downward and then hand tighten the lug nut to hold the washer into the washer pocket. Rotate the wheel clockwise to the next available lug stud and repeat until all lug nuts are installed. Rotate the wheel and ensure all washers are properly positioned in each of the washer pockets and then torque to the proper torque specifications of the lug stud size.
For 5×4.75 Bolt Pattern Installations: (require Centered Washers) After the vehicle is properly and securely positioned place the wheel on the vehicle. Start with the lug stud at the 6’oclock position and hand tighten the lug nut to hold the washer into the washer pocket. Rotate the wheel clockwise to the next available lug stud and repeat until all lug nuts are installed. Rotate the wheel and ensure all washers are properly positioned in each of the washer pockets and then torque to the proper torque specifications of the lug stud size.
For 5×5 Bolt Pattern Installations: (require Offset Washers) After the vehicle is properly and securely positioned place the wheel on the vehicle. Start with the lug stud at the 12’oclock position. Gravity will allow the largest part of the Offset washer to fall downward and then hand tighten the lug nut to hold the washer into the washer pocket. Rotate the wheel clockwise to the next available lug stud and repeat until all lug nuts are installed. Rotate the wheel and ensure all washers are properly positioned in each of the washer pockets and then torque to the proper torque specifications of the lug stud size.
